Director of Business Development & Recruiting

Join a Ground-Floor Venture to change the Employment Services landscape

The Employment Network is a new, ambitious venture. Our vision is to fundamentally change Employment Services, creating a sustainable model that benefits both Minnesota businesses and job seekers facing barriers to employment.

We are seeking our first, most integral employee—a dynamic Director of Business Development & Recruitment who is passionate about helping underemployed and disabled individuals find meaningful work. This role is a unique opportunity to build a program from the ground up and grow into a future leadership role.

If you believe in the value of innovative employment solutions and can build strong local networks, we want to hear from you.

 About the Role:

This highly visible, dual-focus position is responsible for driving the entire mission of The Employment Network. You will be the sole driver of our initial growth, leading efforts to connect employers with our diverse pool of qualified candidates.

 Key Responsibilities Include:

 I. Business Development & Partnerships (The "Business" Side)

  • Secure Hiring Partners: Develop and manage a network of Minnesota businesses (in the MSP area and Greater Minnesota) interested in hiring from our candidate pool.

  • Consultative Sales: Serve as the primary contact, presenting a clear, compelling value proposition for businesses to partner with The Employment Network (all our services are offered free of charge to businesses and job seekers).

  • Strategic Growth: Align business connections and job opportunities with The Employment Network's long-term mission and strategic goals.

II. Talent Network Development (The "Talent" Side)

  • Candidate Sourcing: Develop and leverage networks to create a robust, diverse pool of job-seeking clients (including individuals with disabilities or those facing other employment barriers).

  • Client Advocacy: Work directly with job seekers to understand their barriers to employment, identifying skills, and developing creative, problem-solving solutions to facilitate job matches.

 III. Program Leadership & Management

  • Founding Leadership: Design, implement, and execute program goals, eligibility policies, and reporting metrics in line with our Mission and Vision.

  • Future Team Management: This role is on a management track and will supervise and lead future staff added to The Employment Network team. This includes day-to-day management and oversight of data collection and reporting.

  • Financial Oversight: Manage the program’s budget to ensure efficient and impactful growth.

 Qualifications:

  • Experience: 3+ years of progressive experience in both Recruiting/Talent Acquisition and Business Development/B2B Sales.

  • Network: An existing, strong network of employer relationships in Minnesota is highly desirable.

  • Mindset: A proven innovative problem-solver and a self-starter. You are motivated to find creative ways to overcome employment barriers rather than disqualify candidates.

  • Passion: Demonstrated empathy or personal connection to the struggles of underemployed individuals or those with disabilities.

  • Self-Management: Must thrive in a hybrid remote/in-office model and be comfortable managing a demanding schedule with minimal direct oversight.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with MS Office, CRM platforms, and standard Talent Acquisition practices is required. Bachelor's or Master's degree preferred.

 Compensation & Benefits:

The Employment Network offers a highly competitive total compensation package to secure a talented, mission-driven leader:

  • Total Compensation Potential: Up to $150,000 (Base Salary)

  • Premium Benefits Package:

    • 100% Employer-Paid Medical, Dental, Vision, and Disability Insurance for the employee.

    • Paid Time Off (PTO) and Paid Holidays.

    • Retirement savings with up to a 5% match.
